More of the Issues local people see with the proposals:

The report that proposed the new EWAY route was based upon the misleading statement that the Greenway was a disused railway. It is, however, not a disused tranport link. It quoted figures from 2005 and took no account of any increase in cyclist and walker usage or in the community, health and environmental benefits that the walkway brings. The destruction of the Greenway will remove the only playing area for many children in the area.

It does not consider the disadvantages of the proposed rapid transit system or the cost that the service might have compared to traditional buses. With rapidly increasing fuel costs and Northern Ireland having half a million people living in poverty ('Bare Necessities - Poverty And Social Exclusion In Northern Ireland') the service could quickly become out of the reach of some people. Walking and Cycling are free!
